*Smoke alarms are a key part of a home fire escape plan. It is recommended to check your alarms once a month.
*Some homeowners may notice mildew on their window frames during the fall and winter months. This is caused when the window sweats due to cold, damp air on the outside and warm air on the inside. The close proximity of heaters to windows also contributes to the growth of mildew. To minimize the probability of mildew, residents should keep drapes open whenever possible in order to allow proper air circulation around the window. If you do notice mildew on your window, clean with water and disinfect immediately.
*Remember to shut all the windows in your garage.
*If you are going out of town for the holidays, keep your thermostat on.
